FDCPA Harassment — What Collectors Cannot Do
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act · 15 U.S.C. § 1692d
Debt collectors cannot harass, threaten, or abuse you. Repeated calling with intent to annoy, profane language, threats of violence, and failure to identify themselves are all illegal under the FDCPA.

Section 806 prohibits any conduct that harasses, oppresses, or abuses a person in connection with debt collection. This includes: causing a phone to ring repeatedly with intent to annoy; using obscene language; threatening violence; and calling without disclosing the caller's identity.
