Section 609 forces credit bureaus to show you everything in your consumer file, including where they got the information and who has accessed it in the past year. This is the legal basis for the Section 609 dispute letter.

Section 609 requires consumer reporting agencies to disclose to consumers all information in their file at the time of request, the sources of that information, and each person who procured a consumer report in the past year. The disclosure must be provided free once per year and within 15 days of request.
